Getting results from training takes time, especially for those of us who train naturally without the aid of synthetic pharmaceutical substances. Getting results is a matter of patience and doing the right things at the right time, day after day, year after year until we get to where we want to be. Sometimes, we'll make an overnight leap of strength and lift significantly more than we did at our last visit to the gym, but that is a rarity and something that mostly happens when we're fairly new to all this lifting business. Most of the time, results come slowly.
For that reason, bodybuilders are always on the lookout for something that can help speed things up a little, something that helps us get stronger and put on more mass in a shorter time. Through my own testing over the years as well as research and discussions with fellow natural bodybuilders, I've found that there are some supplements that can really help you get results faster. While a lot of what goes on in the supplement industry is just hype or even downright lies, there are products that can really help. Like these ones:

1. Creatine. Creatine is one of the most popular bodybuilding supplements ever, simply because it works. Study after study have confirmed creatine's beneficial effects on muscle growth, and through more research we are learning that this nutrient works its wonder in more ways than we could even know; for instance, new research shows that creatine might even reduce myostatin, which is very, very interesting news indeed.
2. HMB. HMB (β-hydroxy β-methylbutyrate) became quite popular in the nineties after some research showed that it functioned as a muscle breakdown inhibitor and gave athletes better strength and size results, but then its use kind of died out a little. It has definitely made a comeback now, though, as more and more people are using it and finding it helpful in the real world. One day we might see HMB use rival that of creatine, who knows? One HMB supplement that also gives you both creatine and the popular glutamine is EAS' Betagen . Betagen has a solid history and a great taste and is definitely worth trying out if you want the combined effects of glutamine, HMB and creatine.
3. Whey Protein. Whey protein is the cornerstone of bodybuilding supplementation. You'll be hard pressed to find many bodybuilders who aren't using it, and for good reason. Whey protein has a high biological value and is a faster acting protein than most of what we get from food, and that is probably part of the reason why it seems to work so well, especially right after a workout. If you find that you don't like the taste of protein drinks much or find that you tire easily from them and therefore don't use them as much as you should, try something like Scitec Nutrition's Protein Delite – which gets extremely good reviews for the taste. It contains pieces of real berries, and can be a real treat when mixed with milk.
4. Branched Chain Amino Acids. While whey protein contains branched chain amino acids, many bodybuilders find that taking extra BCAA tables before and during training (and sometimes along with a post workout drink) give them better results - and there's research to back that up. Branched Chain Amino Acids also has a very long and solid history among bodybuilders, something which talks for their efficacy.
5. Coconut oil. Coconut oil is great, and could really help you reach your fat loss goals, as funny as that sounds. Coconut also has a range of health benefits and have been used in traditional medicine in a bunch of different tropical countries around the world. If it could be patented and given a fancy name, we'd no doubt hear a lot more about it. As it is, though, it's something that can be very good for a number of things, and something you should probably eat whethe you're a bodybuilder or just someone who cares about their health.
Try one or all of these supplements and see how they work for you – they've worked for others!
